1974; M.B.A., Boston College, Chestnut Hill, Mass., 1982; J.D., Suffolk
University, Boston, Mass., 1985; member of the Massachusetts state house of
representatives, 1977-1984; member of the Massachusetts state senate,
1985-1998; Norfolk County, Mass. district attorney, 1998-2010; elected as a
Democrat to the One Hundred Twelfth and to the four succeeding Congresses
(January 3, 2011-present).
