senior attorney, Natural Resources Defense Council, 2001-2006; member of the
Marin County, Calif., municipal water district board of directors, 2001-2006;
member of the California state assembly, 2006-2012; elected as a Democrat to
the One Hundred Thirteenth and to the three succeeding Congresses (January 3,
