State Representative Toni Rose was elected to represent District 110 in the State of Texas House of Representatives in November 2013. District 110 covers parts of southern Dallas, Balch Springs and Mesquite Texas' diverse and predominantly minority communities.
During the 83rd Legislative Session, Representative Rose was appointed to serve on two House Standing Committees, including: The Human Services Committee and The Corrections Committees. During her inaugural session in the Texas Legislature, Representative Rose passed her first bill, House Bill 802 on April 3, 2013. HB 802 was enacted in response to assisting Texas' counties with emergency preparedness and readiness management.
A graduate of Paul Quinn College, Representative Rose is a mental health professional and was employed with Parkland Health & Hospital System prior to her election to the Texas Legislature.
Representative Rose has long advocated, through volunteerism and social activism, for stronger public educational systems, affordable and accessible health care options, better jobs and increased employment opportunities for residents in Dallas County underserved, at-risk communities. Through volunteer service on numerous local boards and commissions, Representative Rose has improved neighborhoods and affected communities within District 110 by championing solidly-proven program and increased opportunities for deserving residents impacted by our changing economy and adverse conditions impacting her constituents.
Representative Rose has an impressive history of public and community service in Dallas as well as throughout the state of Texas. She has served on numerous City of Dallas Boards and Commissions: Planning & Zoning Commission, the Judicial Nominating Commission and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center Board. Additionally, Representative Rose held leadership roles in the NAACP Dallas Branch, League of Women Voters of Dallas, Paul Quinn National Alumni Association, Texas Coalition of Black Democrats, United Negro College Fund (UNCF) and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. In addition, Representative Rose currently serves on the Dallas County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), the Dallas Development Board for Texas Can Academies, and as an ex-officio member of the North Central Texas County of Government Executive Board.
Representative Rose is a member of The Potter's House of Dallas, Inc. and serves as Team Captain in the Guest Services Ministry.
