Kyle Kacal, long-time resident of Brazos County, was elected in November 2012 to the Texas House of Representatives to serve and represent House District 12. The district is comprised of Falls, Limestone and Robertson counties and portions of Brazos and McLennan.
Since being sworn in, Representative Kacal has been named to the House Agriculture and Livestock Committee as well as the House Environmental Regulation Committee. As a steward of our natural resources, Representative Kacal is considered one of the leading voices for agriculture and rural issues on the floor of the House. He worked diligently to promote the passage of landmark water legislation in the 83rd session as well as authoring multiple bills to assist Texas agriculture producers.
A strong advocate for education, Representative Kacal works passionately to improve vocational and technical opportunities for Texas students. During the 83rd session he worked to reduce the burdens on local school districts and increase options for student curriculum. Representative Kacal has since been named to the Joint Interim Committee to Study Education Policy for a Skilled Workforce, which focuses on ways to improve our student workforce preparedness.
As a lifelong conservative, Representative Kacal worked to cut over 1 billion dollars in taxes as well as ending millions of dollars in tax diversions. Along with his conservative colleagues, he pushed to focus the state’s priorities on its constitutional responsibilities. He has also supported efforts to increase transparency as well as accessibility of the Legislature to the voters of Texas.
Following his graduation from Texas A&M University in 1992 and receiving his Certificate of Ranch Management from Texas Christian University, Representative Kacal has devoted his life to preserving the land and contributing to local and state economies through his dynamic ranching business. Representative Kacal's ranch operates as a large-scale cattle business, focusing on breeding and raising beef cattle as well as a full-service hunting business during the fall and spring.
Representative Kacal and his wife, Marci, have two children, Carter and Kendall, who attend Allen Academy in Bryan, Texas. The family is actively involved in the St. Thomas Aquinas church.
