State Representative Jeff Leach proudly serves the citizens of House District 67, consisting of portions of Plano, Allen, Richardson and Dallas in Collin County. A committed conservative, Representative Leach believes in limiting the size and scope of government, lowering taxes and wisely investing in the critical infrastructure necessary to ensure Texas remains prosperous and strong as our state continues to grow.
Rep. Leach has been recognized by numerous organizations across the state for his work during the 83rd Legislative Session. Specifically, Leach was named a "Taxpayer Champion" by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, the state's largest taxpayer watchdog organization, a "Lone Star Conservative Leader," by the Texas Conservative Roundtable and as "Top Rated Conservative in the Texas House" by Texas Eagle Forum. Leach was also named a "Champion for Free Enterprise" by the Texas Association of Business. In addition, Capitol Inside named Leach as one of the "Best Freshman Legislators" and the Dallas Morning News singled Leach out as one of the "Best of the Dallas Area's Freshman Class."
During his first session, Representative Leach successfully authored legislation limiting the reckless expansion of Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act, as well as a provision that will spur stable job growth in Texas by providing substantial tax relief for business owners that relocate to Texas. Additionally, Leach passed landmark legislation in the Texas House to crack down on sexual offenders and make our neighborhoods safer. Furthermore, Representative Leach proudly co-authored House Bill 4, addressing our state's long-term water needs by formulating a steady plan to provide the vital capital needed to fund the State Water Plan and providing a long-term, fiscally responsible solution.
Representative Leach serves on the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence, the House Committee on Urban Affairs and the House Committee on Rules & Resolutions.
Born and raised in Plano, Representative Leach graduated from Plano Senior High before attending Baylor University, where he served as Student Body President for two consecutive terms. During his time at Baylor he served President Bush in the White House Office of Political Affairs and the Republican National Committee. Leach went on to earn his law degree from Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law and currently practices at the law firm of Gray Reed & McGraw, P.C. in Dallas.
Representative Leach and his wife Becky, a small business owner, are the proud parents of Brady (age 6), Charlotte (age 4) and Landry (born October 2014). In addition to service with numerous other community organizations, Jeff and Becky are active members of Prestonwood Baptist Church, where they have served for several years in the Young Families Ministry.
