Representative Dan Branch represents the "heart of Dallas," District 108, in the Texas House of Representatives. He is the Chairman of the House Committee on Higher Education, a Member of the Legislative Budget Board, as well as a Member of the Calendars and Pensions Committees.
Since 2009, Branch has served as a Co-Chair of the Dallas Area Legislative Delegation. In addition, Chairman Branch is a Member of the Southern Regional Education Board and a Texas Commissioner to the Education Commission of the States.
During his time in the Texas Legislature, Dan has been a leading advocate of budget and education reforms. He continues to champion efforts to develop more Tier One universities in Texas, lower tuition and textbook costs, ease transfers from community colleges to universities and align a portion of higher education funding to outcomes. His legislative efforts have earned him high marks from many sources, including The Dallas Morning News, The Texas Tribune and the Austin American-Statesman; both Texas Monthly and Capitol Inside listed him among their “best” of the Texas Legislature in 2009 and 2011.
Before his 2002 election to the Texas House, Dan served as President of The Dallas Assembly and as Chairman of the Texas Public Finance Authority. He is a shareholder of Winstead PC. Dan and his wife, Stacey, have been married for over 28 years and have five children.
