State Representative Bill Zedler was first elected in 2002 to represent District 96 in the Texas House of Representatives. House District 96 includes portions of Arlington, Burleson, Crowley, Fort Worth, Kennedale, and Mansfield in southern Tarrant County.
Representative Zedler is a 36-year resident of Arlington, where he and his wife raised their family. Active in his community, he serves on the Advisory Board of the Arlington Pregnancy Center and has been an Elder at Park Springs Bible Church. Additionally, he is a member of the Arlington Kiwanis Club, as well as various local chambers of commerce.
After earning his Master of Business Administration from Sam Houston State University in 1967, Representative Zedler entered the U.S. Army and attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Serving as a hospital personnel officer, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal during a tour-of-duty in Vietnam.
After concluding his military service, Representative Zedler embarked on a successful career in the healthcare industry, holding positions with Jelco Labs, Baxter Healthcare, Pyxis Corporation, and Bridge Medical. He continues to work in the healthcare sector providing consultative services.
In the Texas House, Representative Zedler has proven himself to be a principled conservative who will continue to fight for limited government, limited taxation, free enterprise, and traditional values. For these efforts, Representative Zedler has been named a "Champion for Free Enterprise" by the Texas Association of Business, a "Texas Taxpayer Hero" by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, "Legislator of the Year" by Texas Chiropractic Association, and a "Defender of Life" by Texas Right to Life. He has also been a recipient of the Courageous Conservative Award, the Defender of the American Dream Award, the Advocacy Tribute Award, and the Face of Courage Award and has been honored by The Century Council, Texas Hospital Association, Texas Pediatric Society, Arlington ISD, and numerous chambers of commerce.
Representative Zedler was elected by his peers to serve on the board of directors of the Texas Conservative Coalition during the 79th and 80th Legislative Sessions. He is active with the House Republican Caucus, and serves as the Vice Chair of the Tarrant County Delegation during the 83rd Legislative Session.
Representative Zedler currently sits on the Public Health and Defense & Veteran Affairs committees. In previous legislative sessions, he served on the following House committees: Business & Industry, Criminal Jurisprudence, Government Efficiency and Reform, Public Education (Vice Chair), Rules & Resolutions, and House Administration. Representative Zedler was also appointed by the Speaker of the House to serve on several conference and select committees.
Representative Zedler and his wife have three children and six grandchildren.
