+ − Biography
Kendra Anderson is a Democrat representing District 31 (Warwick, Cranston) in the Rhode Island Senate.
Sen. Anderson was elected to the Senate in November 2020. During her time in the legislature, she has made addressing the climate crisis a top priority, building on her long record of environmental activism.
She introduced legislation calling for electric vehicle charging infrastructure to be required as part of all large new developments or redevelopments, including commercial and residential projects.
As a member of the Environmental Council of Rhode Island's Climate Crisis Campaign, she also helped make recommendations for the Act on Climate, which was signed into law in 2021.
Sen. Anderson was born on June 27, 1957. She has one son, Jake Anderson O'Flaherty.
A resident of Warwick's Norwood section since 2015, she is a member of the Norwood Neighborhood Association Leadership Team. She was a co-founder and past president of Climate Action Rhode Island.
Sen. Anderson earned a B.A. from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. Professionally, she has worked in education and social services, including as a teacher and case manager for Head Start and an energy efficiency educator for National Grid's Energy Efficiency Rebate Program. She now teaches English for various organizations, including English For Action, Dorcas International and Progreso Latino.
