Lisa P. Tomasso (D) has served her District 29 constituency in Coventry and West Greenwich since she was first elected in November 2010.
Representative Tomasso’s public service record includes a term on the Coventry School Committee from 2008 to 2010 and two years as a trustee of Cranston Public Libraries, from 1993 to 1995.
In 2012, she co-sponsored a bill allowing the Town of Coventry to establish a tax amnesty program. .She was a cosponsor of legislation aimed at preventing food-stamp fraud.
The Rhode Island Council on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependence honored Rep. Tomasso with the 2012 Community Service Award.
Aside from her legislative duties, she is a licensed and certified group/personal fitness trainer. She also has a hand in a long list of community organizations, including the Coventry District Health and Wellness Committee, Coventry District Service Learning Committee, West Greenwich Conservation Commission, Coventry Democratic Town Committee and the Coventry School Improvement Team.
Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Coventry Public Education Foundation and the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Team at the Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School in Coventry.
She is a member and past president of the Hopkins Hill School PTA, a former member of the Capital Improvement Study Team for Coventry Public Schools (2006), Coventry Soccer Association’s 2007 Volunteer of the Year, and the former program director for Literacy Volunteers of Kent County, an affiliate of Pro-Literacy America.
Born on July 27, 1970, she is a graduate of Cranston High School West in 1988. She continued her education as a political science major at the University of Rhode Island. She is married to David and they have three sons, Nicholas, Nathan and Aidan.
