Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Representative Mark Johnson is a long-time resident of District 52. He grew up in the community of Parkdale and attended Hood River County schools from grade 1-12. After attending Whitworth College in Spokane, Mark moved back to Hood River with his wife, Melodi.
Mark was elected to his first term in the State House of Representatives in November of 2010 and has since been re-elected twice. He is proud to represent the constituents of House District 52, which encompasses Hood River, Cascade Locks, Corbett, Sandy, Estacada, parts of Gresham and other parts of Hood River, Clackamas, and Multnomah Counties.
For the 2015 Legislative Session, Mark served on the House Higher Education and Workforce Development Committee, Revenue Committee and Joint Committee on Tax Credits. He also served as Vice Chair of the Energy and Environment Committee.
Locally, Mark was recently elected to his third term on the Hood River County School board and previously served as the chair for two years. With three kids raised and educated in local public schools, Mark feels it is important to be actively engaged in improving our local education system. He knows that our schools need better, smarter funding and greater creativity at all levels.
Aside from his work on the school board, Mark has owned his own general contracting business in the area for over 25 years. Mark understands firsthand what challenges small businesses and families are facing in this tough economy. His experience and passion towards a healthy, successful and vibrant community both in the public and private sectors are driving his priorities in Salem.
In addition to Legislative and school board responsibilities, and his personal business, Mark enjoys leading short-term mission groups to Guatemala to help with various construction and service projects.
Best regards,
Mark Johnson
