Ryan Martinez, a Republican from Edmond, has served District 39 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives since being elected in 2016.He serves as vice chair of the House Appropriations & Budget Committee and chairs the House Special Investigative Committee, established in 2022. Martinez previously chaired the House Redistricting Committee, leading the House's decennial redistricting efforts following the 2020 U.S. Census.Additionally, he serves on the House Government Modernization Committee and the House Efficiency and A&B General Government Committee. Before his legislative service, Martinez served as the field representative in Washington, D.C., for U.S. Sen. James Inhofe. He previously served as director of leadership, member and public relations for the Oklahoma House of Representatives under previous House Speaker T.W. Shannon, as well as executive director of the Oklahoma Republican State House Committee. In the private sector, he worked as vice president of marketing and development for Sagac Public Affairs in Oklahoma City.Martinez has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Northern Colorado.Martinez is a public safety advocate, an active volunteer at the Tealridge Retirement Community in Edmond and an engaged community leader, working with small business owners, neighborhood leaders and the downtown business district in his hometown.Martinez says faith is the first and most important guiding principle for him and his family. His belief in Jesus Christ as Lord is what called him to be a humble servant to his neighbors and family. He believes God ordains the freedom of the individual, which is the foundation of our Republic. Therefore, defending the right to free exercise of faith is fundamental.He also believes the desire to be free sparked the American Revolution and the greatest experience in the history of mankind. Martinez believes liberty is under assault by a big, intrusive government that encroaches upon our property, workplace faith, families and the individual. Martinez is a staunch defender of the U.S. Constitution and the freedom it guarantees.He believes in the traditional family and limited government.Martinez and his wife Katie are members at Memorial Church of Christ in Edmond.
