Larry Obhof proudly represents the people of the 22nd Senate District, which includes Medina, Ashland and Richland counties, as well as portions of Holmes County.
Senator Obhof is focused on improving Ohio’s economy and creating opportunities for economic growth. He is an advocate of fiscal responsibility, smaller government, and lower taxes. His knowledge and leadership led his colleagues to elect him Majority Whip for the 130th General Assembly. As Majority Whip, Senator Obhof is responsible for monitoring legislation and securing votes for legislation on the Senate floor.
Senator Obhof’s legal knowledge is essential for his role as Vice-Chairman of the Senate Civil Justice Committee, which examines and develops policies that impact Ohio’s court system, as well as the state’s civil and commercial laws. Obhof also serves on the Senate Rules Committee, the Ways & Means Committee, the Insurance & Financial Institutions Committee, and the Finance Subcommittee on General Government.
In addition to his legislative duties, Senator Obhof is an attorney and was part of the legal team that challenged the constitutionality of President Obama’s health care law on behalf of a small business association and 26 states. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he has taught courses on legislation and civil procedure. Obhof graduated with degrees in Economics, History, and Political Science from The Ohio State University. He earned his law degree from Yale Law School.
Senator Obhof resides in Medina with his wife, Nicole, and their three daughters.
