+ − Biography
State Representative Lou Terhar is currently serving his third term in the Ohio House of Representatives. He represents the 30th House District, which includes portions of western Hamilton County.
Representative Terhar graduated from Elder High School in Cincinnati. He earned a BS from the United States Naval Academy in 1972, an MBA in Finance from Syracuse University and Master of Liberal Arts from Harvard University.
Prior to joining the General Assembly, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Integris Metals, the largest distributor of stainless steel and aluminum in North America. Before joining Integris he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Indian Motorcycle Company, a manufacturer of major cruiser motorcycles. He also served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the David J. Joseph Company, one of the world’s largest ferrous and nonferrous metal recycling and trading companies, now a major division of Nucor Steel.
Currently, Representative Terhar is the Managing Director of a strategic business planning firm. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Dan Beard Council, Boy Scouts of America and serves as a Trustee of the Altiora Fund for Cincinnati Elder High School. He is a retired commander of the U.S. Navy.
Since 2002, Representative Terhar has taught the Capstone Course in the Executive MBA program at Xavier University. In both 2008 and 2012 he was named the Xavier MBA Professor of the year by graduate students.
Representative Terhar and his wife, Debe, have four children and four grandchildren.
