State Representative Jim Butler is currently serving his second term as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives. He represents the 41st House District, which includes eastern portions of Montgomery County (Centerville, Dayton, Kettering, Oakwood and Riverside). Representative Butler is the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.
Representative Butler received his bachelor’s degree in history from the United States Naval Academy, where he graduated in the top 10 percent of his class. He also is a graduate of the University of Maryland and the University of Cincinnati, from which he earned his Master’s degree and Juris Doctorate, respectively. Representative Butler served in the United States Navy as fighter pilot, flying the F-14 Tomcat.
Being involved in the community is very important to Representative Butler and reflects his desire to serve his community and the citizens of Ohio. He was on the Board of Trustees of the Dayton Ballet and also served as President of the Dayton Ballet Associate Board. Additionally, Representative Butler is a member of the City of Oakwood Rotary Club and gives his time to the Volunteer Lawyers Project and the United Way.
Representative Butler and his wife, Dr. Melissa Butler, reside in Oakwood with their three daughters, Katy, Bella, and Amelia.
