State Representative Dorothy Pelanda is currently serving her first full term as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives after being appointed to serve during the 129th General Assembly. She represents the 86th House District, which includes Union and Marion Counties.
A graduate of Marysville High School, Representative Pelanda also graduated from Miami University and the University of Akron School of Law. Representative Pelanda has practiced law for more than 30 years, focusing primarily on domestic relations.
Representative Pelanda began her public service in 1988, when she was a member of the Charter Review Committee for the city of Marysville. Since then, she has also been a two-term president of the Marysville Library Board and a two-term president of U-CO Industries, which serves disabled adults in Union County. She also served on the board of trustees for the Union County Public Law library.
Representative Pelanda is married to Sam Gerhardstein, Director of Governmental Affairs for Columbia Gas of Ohio. She has three children: Brian, a trial lawyer in Costa Mesa California; Doug, in Research and Development at Nationwide Children’s Hospital; and Zoe, a student at Kent State University.
