+ − Biography
Assemblyman Anthony H. Palumbo represents Suffolk County residents in the 2nd Assembly District as their voice in Albany. After only one legislative session, Assemblyman Palumbo�s leadership, determination and compassion has been apparent.
Palumbo got to work immediately upon arrival in Albany by sponsoring a tax-cut bill that would save the average Suffolk County resident over $2,500 annually.
Assemblyman Palumbo showed his ability to work across the aisle to bring real results for Suffolk County by sponsoring and passing a law - a rare feat for a first-term assemblyman - that saves first-time homebuyers thousands and helps younger generations achieve the dream of homeownership on Long Island.
Palumbo also led in the effort to reform the Common Core educational curriculum, sponsoring legislation that would create a blue-ribbon panel of parents, teachers and administrators to create a challenging but realistic curriculum that engages our children and lets our teachers get back to doing what they do best – teaching. In addition to fighting against the flawed implementation of the Common Core standards, Assemblyman Palumbo also fought for our local schools and delivered over $13 million in additional school aid from the previous calendar year.
Anthony is dedicated to making public corruption laws in New York tougher, having sponsored legislation that would strip the pensions from the corrupt politicians who violate the public’s trust. As a former prosecutor, Assemblyman Palumbo is the leader we need to begin cleaning up the political corruption running rampant in Albany.
Before his time in the Assembly, Anthony served as an assistant district attorney for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted hundreds of cases on the misdemeanor and felony levels. He was eventually promoted to the position of Trial Supervisor to the five Eastern Suffolk Towns. He left the district attorney’s office in 2004 to enter private practice as a partner, along with his wife, in a small Mattituck law firm.
Anthony earned a degree in Government and Law from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania and graduated from St. John’s Law School in Jamaica, New York.
He also served as the Vice President of the Cutchogue-New Suffolk Library Board of Trustees prior to being elected.
Anthony and his wife, Tracy, reside in New Suffolk with their two young children.
We have seen real results and are off to a great start for Suffolk County.
Assemblyman Palumbo is poised to improve the quality of life on the East End while also making Suffolk County affordable again.
