+ − Biography
Representative Margo McNeil, a Democrat, represents parts of Florissant, Hazelwood and unincorporated St. Louis County (District 69) in the Missouri House of Representatives.
Prior to her legislative duties, Rep. McNeil worked for 22 years as an art teacher with the Ferguson Florissant School District. She also served as a Trustee for St. Louis Community College for six years. She is the granddaughter of former United State Congressman Courtney W. Hamlin of Greene County, Missouri (7th District).
Rep. McNeil attends St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Florissant and is a member of the following organizations: Missouri National Education Association (MNEA)-retired; League of Women Voters; National Women’s Political Caucus-Metro St. Louis; St. Louis Regional Health Commission; North County Inc.; Greater North County Chamber of Commerce; and Northwest Chamber of Commerce.
Rep. McNeil serves as co-chair of the bipartisan Green School Caucus and is chair of the Democratic Education Caucus. Awards that she has received are: The Missouri Alzheimer Association award for Leadership in 2012; and Hellenic Foundation’s Athena Award for contributions to education in 2011.
A 1966 graduate of Hannibal High School, Rep. McNeil attended Stephen’s College in Columbia, Missouri and received a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and a master’s degree in Art Education from the University of Cincinnati.
Born June 22, 1948 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Rep. McNeil currently lives in Hazelwood with her husband, Jim. They have three adult children – Nathan, Stuart and Megan.
