+ − Biography
Representative Kevin Austin, a Republican, represents the southeast portion of Springfield and Greene County (District 136). He was elected to his first two-year term in November 2012.
Representative Austin is a lifelong Springfield resident, graduating from Wilder, Pershing and Glendale schools. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Financial Management from Missouri State University in 1988, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Missouri in 1996. While attending Law School, Rep. Austin was a published author and a member of the Law Review. He graduated as a member of the Order of the Coif, a national organization whose members represent the top ten percent of graduating law students.
Representative Austin is married to his wife, Jody, and they have two sons: Alex and Nick. They attend King’s Way United Methodist Church where Kevin leads the Military Ministries and is a Scripture Reader for the Sunday services.
Before becoming a Representative, Rep. Austin was involved in the following volunteer organizations: Police and Fire Pension Fund Board, Housing Authority of Springfield, Director for Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association and Vice President of the Southern Hills Tennis and Swim Club.
When not fulfilling his legislative duties, Rep. Austin practices law in Springfield as a member of Keck & Austin, LLC, focusing on business counseling and litigation and insurance defense.
