+ − Biography
Rep. John Joseph Rizzo, a Democrat, represents parts of Kansas City, Independence and Sugar Creek within Jackson County (District 19) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to his first two-year term in November 2010. He was elected by the Democratic Caucus to the position of Minority Whip in 2013 and again in 2015.
In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Rizzo is a marketing consultant.
Rep. Rizzo has served as the 11th Ward Committeeman for Jackson County. He is a former board member for Truman Medical Center and a former member of the Kansas City Planning Commission. He is also a member of the Indian Mound Neighborhood Association.
Rep. Rizzo attends Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Rep. Rizzo is a 1999 graduate of St. Pius X High School. He received his B.S. in Political Science and his B.A. in English in 2004 from Rockhurst University.
Born on October 3, 1980 in Kansas City, Rep. Rizzo currently resides there with his wife, Lindsay and daughter Sofia.
