+ − Biography
Rep. Jack Bondon, a Republican from Belton and lifelong Missourian, represents parts of Cass, Jackson and Bates counties in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to his first two-year term in November 2014.
Rep. Bondon is a 2000 graduate of Rockhurst High School. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business in 2004.
An involved member of the community, Rep. Bondon attends St. Sabina Church in Belton. He is a member of the Belton Chamber of Commerce and the Belton School District Strategic Planning Committee. Bondon is a supporter of the Cass County Life Choice Center, the CASCO Sheltered Workshop, the National Rifle Association, the Faith and Freedom Coalition, and the Belton and Raymore-Peculiar Public Education Foundations and the Cass-Midway PTO. Bondon is also a member of the Ducks Unlimited Golden Valley Chapter, as well as the Cass/Jackson Cattlemen’s Association.
In his 4 years in The House, Rep. Bondon has been appointed to the Emerging Issues in Education, Energy and the Environment, Utilities, Emerging Issues-General Laws, Banking, Rules- House Consent and Procedure and Rules- Legislative Oversight Committees. Bondon was appointed Chairman of the House Financial Institutions Committee in January of 2018 for a 2-year term, having previously served 4 years on the committee.
In 2015, after just a few weeks of service, the House Majority Whip appointed him to serve the Republican Caucus as a member of the House Whip Team. He rose to be appointed Deputy Whip in 2017 and, in 2018, to the level of Chief Deputy Whip.
Representative Bondon was appointed by former Speaker of the House, Todd Richardson, as the sole House Majority member of The Missouri Health Facilities Review Committee in March of 2017. The Committee reviews applications for large healthcare facility investments in an effort to balance high quality patient care as well as taxpayer cost. In 2018, after serving just 8 months, he was elected by his fellow members to serve as chairman of the committee. In January of 2019, Speaker Elijah Haahr reappointed Bondon to an additional two-year term where he will remain chair.
In 2017, Bondon was elected by his local colleagues to serve as the Republican Co-Chair of the House Kansas City Metro-Area Caucus, a bi-partisan group of Representatives from eight surrounding counties working together for the people of the entire region. In January of 2019, he was re-elected to co-chair the regional caucus in this 100th General Assembly.
Representative Bondon has earned a number of awards and recognitions in his 4 years of service including: House Freshman Legislator of the Year, “A Defender of Liberty Award” by The Missouri Alliance for Freedom, The Missouri Health Policy Leadership Award, The Missouri State Teacher’s Association’s Legislator of the Year, Missouri Farm Bureau’s Friend of Agriculture Award, The Award for Conservative Excellence from the American Conservative Union. In 2018, Bondon was recognized for his advocacy on behalf the amazing folks at Missouri’s Sheltered Workshops.
Rep. Bondon has been successful on many of legislative fronts. He is known for advancing many pieces of legislation that streamline, reform, and update the state’s regulatory environment; particularly in the areas of health care and financial institutions; promote policies to support low-cost energy; and return local control to the people.
