Rep. Elijah Haahr, a Republican, represents south central Springfield (District 134) in the Missouri House of Representatives. Elijah was elected to his first term in November of 2012.
In addition to his legislative duties, Elijah is an attorney with Kutak Rock and focuses his practice on civil litigation. He is licensed to practice in Missouri and Oklahoma.
Prior to law school, Elijah grew up in southwest Missouri. He attended Ozarks Technical Community College and was a member of the National Dean’s List and Phi Theta Kappa. After graduating from OTC with honors in 2002, Elijah received an academic scholarship to attend Missouri Western State University. He served as MWSU’s Student Body President, received two bachelor’s degrees, and was a member of the Honor’s Program. He also was a founding father of the Epsilon Omicron chapter of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity and served as the first President. In 2004, he was awarded the Frank Hargear award given annually to recognize Alpha Sigma Phi’s most outstanding national undergraduate. He graduated Cum Laude from MWSU in 2005.
Elijah attended the University of Missouri School of Law on academic scholarship and graduated with honors in 2008. At MU, he served as Editor in Chief of the Environmental Law Review and represented MU at the regional level in Mock Trial and Moot Court competitions. In 2007, he served as the National Student Representative for the ABA’s Appellate Advocacy competition. Upon graduation, he was awarded the Order of Barristers as one of the top 10 oral advocates in his graduating class.
Elijah lives in Springfield with his four children, Jackson, Reagan, Scarlett and Alexandra. He remains active in the local community as a member (and former President) of the Springfield Jaycees, and the Springfield Chamber of Commerce Government Relations Committee. He is a member of the National Rifle Association. In 2010, he was selected as one of 417 Magazine’s 20 under 30 for his work in the community, in 2013, for Springfield Business Journal's 40 under 40, and in 2015 he was named the Ozarks Technical Community College distinguished alumni.
