+ − Biography
State Representative Courtney Allen Curtis (D), District 73, represents St. Louis North County in the Missouri House. He was elected to his first two-year term in November 2012 and re-elected in November 2014. He currently serves on the following Committees: Appropriations - Health, Mental Health and Social Services, Ways and Means and Government Oversight and Accountability.
After winning his first House seat, Rep. Curtis soon became the President of the Freshman Democratic Caucus and Chair of the Freshman Bipartisan Issues Committee. Because of his commitment to ensuring and improving access to a quality higher education in Missouri, he was also named 2013’s Associated Students of the University of Missouri Legislator of the year.
At the University of Missouri, Rep. Curtis led initiatives to encourage minority students to increase their presence in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. In April 2014, Rep. Curtis established the not for profit organization North County Forever. The Organization’s objective is to end poverty, strife and to build a sustainable community in North County.
A native of St. Louis North County, Rep. Curtis is a 1999 graduate of McCluer Senior High School in Florissant. In addition to the University of Missouri, he also attended Columbia College. Rep. Curtis, born on April 12, 1981, currently lives in Ferguson.
