+ − Biography
Rep. Bonnaye Mims, a Democrat, represents part of Jackson County (District 27) in the Missouri House of Representatives. She was elected to her first two-year term in August, 2012.
Prior to her legislative duties, Rep. Mims worked as a forensic coordinator for the Missouri Department of Mental Health. She also served as the President of the Hickman Mills School Board from 2008 to 2012 and as the President of the AFL-CIO AFSCME Local 1812 from 1992-1998.
Rep. Mims attends St. Paul AME Zion Church. She is a member of the following organizations: Hickman Mills School Board, 2001 to present; AFSCME Local 1812 in Kansas City; Jackson County Democratic Committee for 20 years, vice chair for six years; a member of Order of Eastern Star (Lone Star #2 and Golden Circle) and Daughter of Isis-Allah Court #6, Citizens Association, and South Kansas City Alliance.
Rep. Mims is a graduate from Paseo High School in Kansas City. She obtained her associate’s degree in Liberal Arts from Wentworth Military Academy. She also obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, and Political Science and her M.P.A., in Business Government from Park University.
Born in Kansas City, Rep. Mims and currently resides there. She has four children and eight grandchildren.
