+ − Biography
State Representative Rob VerHeulen was first elected to serve the 74th District in the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2012. The 74th District encompasses the cities of Walker, Grandville, Rockford and Cedar Springs, as well as Solon, Tyrone, Sparta, Algoma and Alpine townships. He was re-elected to a third term in November 2016.
VerHeulen attended Grand Rapids Community College and graduated from the University of Michigan. He then went on to earn his law degree at Wayne State University.
Rob served many years as an attorney for Meijer Inc. and most recently as the General Counsel to The Meijer Foundation.
PUBLIC OFFICES AND AFFILIATIONS
VerHeulen served as Mayor of the City of Walker from 2001 to 2012. He also represented Walker on the Boards of the Grand Valley Metropolitan Council, the Urban Cooperation Board, the Interurban Transit Partnership Board, and the West Michigan Sports Commission. He has served on several non-profit and philanthropic boards including Mel Trotter Ministries, the Gerald R. Ford Boy Scouts Council, Plymouth Christian Schools, and the Christian Rest Home.
Rob and his wife Norma have lived in Walker for more than 30 years, where they raised four daughters and now have eight grandchildren who all reside in the West Michigan area.
