+ − Biography
State Representative Marcia Hovey-Wright is serving her third term in the Michigan House of Representatives. She represents the 92nd House District, which comprises the cities of Muskegon, North Muskegon and Muskegon Heights and Fruitland, Laketon, Whitehall and Muskegon townships.
Rep. Hovey-Wright has been a psychotherapist and a licensed social worker who has spent her career helping families and children in the Muskegon area and in schools throughout Michigan. She has also worked as a health care administrator for a nonprofit institution and a health maintenance organization.
Rep. Hovey-Wright earned her master’s degree in management from Aquinas College, her master’s degree in social work from the University of Michigan, and her bachelor’s degree in social work from Pennsylvania State University.
She was the president of her neighborhood association, president of her church board, parent teacher organization, and very involved in her community. She has a long history in the women’s movement and is a promoter of women running for office.
A resident of Muskegon, she and her husband, Bill Wright, have five children together, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
