+ − Biography
DISTRICT
State Rep. Hank Vaupel was elected to his first term in the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2014. He represents the people of Livingston County, including the village of Fowlerville, townships of Conway, Cohoctah, Deerfield, Hartland, Howell, Handy, Iosco, Unadilla, Oceola, Marion, and Tyrone; the city of Howell and part of the city of Fenton.
COMMITTEES
Rep. Vaupel serves as chair of the committee on Health Policy. He is also a member of the committees on Education, Insurance, and Tax Policy.
EDUCATION
Hank earned bachelor and doctorate degrees in veterinary medicine from Michigan State University. After college, Hank proudly served as a Captain in the United States Army from 1968-1971.
PROFESSIONAL
In 1972, Hank returned home to Livingston County and independently started his veterinary practice, Kern Road Veterinary Clinic, P.C., which now includes eight veterinarians and provides equine and small animal veterinary service to most of southeast and central Michigan.
PUBLIC OFFICES AND AFFILIATIONS
Rep. Vaupel has been very involved in the local community. Some of his community leadership included Handy Township Supervisor, Secretary for the Village of Fowlerville DDA, Board Member of the Fowlerville Area Fire Authority, service on the EDC of Livingston County as well as Church Council President at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
PERSONAL
Hank and his wife Cathy have been happily married for 47 years. They have two grown sons, Matthew an electrical engineer, married to Kelly, and Zachary, an orthopedic surgeon, married to Carli. They also have three grandchildren Vivian, Everett, and Hayes.
