+ − Biography
State Representative Gretchen Driskell is serving her second term representing Michigan’s 52nd House District, which encompasses northern and western Washtenaw County, including Chelsea, Dexter, Manchester, Saline and Whitmore Lake. In her first term, Rep. Driskell served on both the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Commerce Committee. Additionally she worked on broadband accessibility and energy-related issues.
Before serving in the Legislature, Driskell served as the mayor of Saline for 14 years, making her its longest-serving and first female mayor. Before that, she served for six years as a city council member. She works as a commercial real estate agent and formerly as an accountant. Driskell previously served as vice president and a board member of the Michigan Municipal League, is a graduate of MML’s Elected Officials Academy, and also served as a chair and as a board member of the MML Workers Compensation Fund. She previously served as the vice chair for SEMCOG and as the chair of the SEMCOG Transportation Advisory Council, was the chair of the Washtenaw Area Transportation Study, and served as the chair of the Citizen’s Advisory Committee for Governor Granholm’s Transportation Funding Task Force. She has a bachelor of science degree in Accounting from Lynchburg College, masters of business administration from George Washington University, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Gretchen Driskell lives in Saline and is the proud mother of three children: Ryan, Matthew and Marielle.
