+ − Biography
State Representative George Darany is serving his third term in the Michigan House of Representatives. He represents the 15th House District, which covers most of the city of Dearborn.
Before joining the Legislature, Darany served as a member of the Dearborn City Council from 2007 through 2010. He also owned and operated his own small business, Classic Trolley Company, in Dearborn for 20 years. He works as a Realtor/Broker with RE/MAX Team 2000 in Dearborn and has been with them for 20 years.
Darany is a proud supporter of Dearborn schools, and has participated on important committees and projects related to local schools. In 2010, Darany received the Distinguished Service Award from the Dearborn and Michigan PTA for his advocacy for public school funding reform.
Darany’s involvement throughout Dearborn includes serving on the Boards of Directors of the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce, the Inter Service Club Council and the Dearborn Rotary Club. He was named Dearborn’s Outstanding Rotarian of the Year in 2009. He also belongs to numerous service clubs and community organizations. In 2006, he received the University of Michigan-Dearborn’s Community Service Award. He is very active with Dearborn Goodfellows and served as the president in 2009. He was a City Beautiful Commissioner from 1990 to 2007.
Darany is a parishioner/usher at Sacred Heart Church and, over the years, has volunteered with: Meals on Wheels; Dearborn Education Fund; Dearborn Jaycees; Dearborn Special Olympics; Just for Dearborn; Dearborn Burn Drive; Dearborn/Dearborn Heights ARC; Exchange Club of Dearborn; Dearborn Kiwanis, Dearborn Animal Shelter; WADOS; and the Dearborn Community Arts Council, among other organizations.
A longtime resident of Dearborn, Darany has a degree in economics from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
