State Representative Derek Miller is serving his first term representing Michigan’s 28th House District, which comprises the city of Center Line and part of the city of Warren.
Before serving in the Legislature, Miller was an assistant prosecuting attorney for Macomb County, working in both the circuit and district courts. He also served as the liaison to Warren and Center Line’s Drug Court and has served on the Roseville 39th District Sobriety Court. Miller spent his last year at the prosecutor’s office in the Senior Crimes Unit. Before his career as a prosecutor, Miller worked as a sole proprietor attorney.
Miller received his bachelor’s in political science from Michigan State University and his juris doctorate from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.
Miller was born, raised and still makes his home in Warren. Miller is filling what he sees as his obligation to serve the cities of Warren and Center Line as his family has for more than 60 years. His grandfather, Art Miller, was elected the first mayor of Warren in 1957. His grandmother, Edna Miller, was the first female elected Macomb County clerk. His father, Art Miller Jr., served in the Michigan Senate from 1977-2003. Now, Derek E. Miller is honored to be able to serve the families, seniors and businesses of House District 28.
