House Committee Amendment No. 1
Replaces the provisions amending the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code with similar provisions concerning voluntary admission to a mental health facility, but with changes that include the following: (1) provides that a person has the capacity to consent to voluntary admission if, in the professional judgment of the facility director or his or her designee, the person is able to understand (instead of if the person understands) certain specified matters; and (2) eliminates, from the list of those specified matters, a statement that if the person does not request discharge from the facility, he or she may be confined for up to 30 days.
