HA 1
Senate Bill No. 292 updates the statute on disclosure of pupil records to ensure compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”), 20 U.S.C. § 1232g, and improve information sharing between educational institutions and programs operating in this State, including local postsecondary institutions and local education agencies, and the Department of Education.
This Amendment conforms Senate Bill No. 292 with existing law relating to the right of students with disabilities and their parents to obtain copies of educational records upon request.

Senate Bill No. 292 updates the statute on disclosure of pupil records to ensure compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”) and improve information sharing between institutions and programs operating in the State, including local postsecondary institutions and local education agencies, and the Department of Education.
This Amendment does the following:
(1) Conforms Senate Bill No. 292 with existing law relating to the right of students with disabilities and their parents to obtain copies of educational records upon request.
(2) Corrects a technical strikethrough and underlining error.
